Book Summary: Eyes Up
Book by Scott Seese
If you notice act!
Life fills and clouds our field of vision with ambition, deadlines, disappointments, noise, pressure, problems, responsibilities, urgency, etc. And slowly, without realizing, our eyes shift downwards. As a result, we miss the most meaningful moments of our lives!
Notice how we are so consumed and glued to our mobile devices everywhere we go, with eyes down - being pulled by the noise (notifications, messages) that constantly demands our attention. This is the ‘drift’ from the real and true connections and moments with people around us.
Eyes Up is a posture before it becomes an action; a willingness to see what is actually happening around us.
When someone feels ‘seen’, something steadies inside them. Their shoulders relax, their breathing deepens, and they feel less alone and safe.
Take a moment and think about the people around us. There may be someone who could use a small reminder that they are ‘seen’. Often it is something simple - a short note, a quick message, or remembering a small detail about them. This unexpected kindness goes a long way in this noisy world and enables us to really reconnect and lift someone up. Lifting is encouragement that is relational. Lifting has a ripple effect. When someone is given steadiness during a difficult moment, they tend to offer steadiness when someone else begins to wobble.
Eyes Up is a posture which is about reclaiming ourselves from the noisy world and be more present to focus on what really matters the most!
Was a very insightful worthwhile read indeed!
